Lynn Haven Defendant James Finch talks with watchdog Jodi Moore on Monday during a break in the evidentiary hearing in Tallahassee.
Proceedings continue tomorrow morning as Defendants call witnesses and show evidence that the Bay County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI were vindictive in their pursuit of Finch and former Lynn Haven Mayor Margo Anderson.
Today, former Commissioner Antonius Barnes told Federal Judge Mark Walker that Prosecutors coerced him to say that Finch bribed him when, in fact, he hadn’t.
The Prosecutors didn’t deny it, and Judge Walker was furious. He ordered an emergency hearing next week “in regard to Mr. Barnes and Kunz.”
Judge Walker was referring to Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Kunz, who has been notably absent over the past few proceedings.
Until yesterday, Barnes was the key witness for the Prosecution of Finch. But now that’s all changed, as Barnes is willing to forfeit his own plea deal to expose Kunz’s abuse of office.
